Snake plant care: the easiest houseplant you can own
If you want one plant that forgives almost everything, choose a snake plant (Sansevieria). It grows slowly, stays upright and looks smart in any room.
Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal, but it manages in a dim corridor too. Keep it out of hot afternoon sun through glass.
Water
Let the soil dry out completely between waterings: about every two to three weeks in summer and once a month in the cooler months. Too much water is the only thing that really harms it.
Soil and pot
Use a free-draining cactus mix and a pot with a drainage hole. Repot only when the roots crack the pot, every two or three years.
