Planning a low-water garden for the UAE climate
Water is the biggest running cost of most gardens here. A low-water garden can still be green and full of colour; it just needs planning.
Group plants by thirst
Put plants that need more water together near the house, and drought-tolerant ones further out. Each zone then gets exactly the water it needs.
Use drip irrigation on a timer
Drip lines water the roots directly and lose far less to evaporation than sprinklers. A timer waters at night, when losses are lowest. Our irrigation systems service designs and installs them.
Replace some lawn
Lawn is the thirstiest part of a garden. Gravel paths, decking or ground-cover planting give the same open feel for a fraction of the water.
